Tour Overview

Your adventure begins upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where our driver will warmly greet you and your group and transfer you to your hotel. After enjoying a delightful meal and a pre-trekking briefing from your guide and mountain coordinators, you can relax and take advantage of the hotel’s amenities, including the swimming pool, garden, and restaurant.

On Day 2, you’ll travel as a group to Londorossi Park Gate to begin your hike to Shira 1 Camp. Over the following days, you’ll trek through stunning landscapes, including the ascent of the Barranco Wall and the Lava Tower, before reaching Barafu Camp, where you’ll prepare for the summit attempt.

On Day 7, you’ll rise early with the group for the challenging summit ascent to Uhuru Peak, experiencing a breathtaking sunrise before descending to Mweka Camp. After completing the climb, you’ll return to Mweka Gate and transfer back to Springlands Hotel for a hot meal and a refreshing shower.

Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our dedicated driver will be there to warmly greet you, holding a sign with your name for easy identification. This seamless and comfortable transfer service will take you to the charming Hotel.

At the hotel, you will be welcomed with a delicious meal. Later, our experienced mountain coordinators and your guide will conduct a pre-trekking briefing. This is an exciting opportunity to learn about the upcoming adventure and the wonders that await you on your trek.

Take advantage of the relaxing environment at the Hotel, featuring a swimming pool, a beautiful garden, a bar, and a restaurant, ensuring you start your journey on a comfortable note.

Altitude:

After enjoying breakfast at Hotel and receiving essential instructions from your guide, you’ll embark on a 1.5-hour drive to Londorossi Park Gate (2250m). Following your guide’s advice is crucial for avoiding altitude sickness, as you’ll be climbing to significant elevations, with your first night at Shira 1 Camp.

At Londorossi Gate, you’ll complete a brief registration before entering the national park. Following this, you’ll have a short drive along Shira Road to the Moram Picnic Site, which takes about 45 minutes. From there, you’ll start your 7 km hike to Shira 1 Camp, typically taking 3 to 4 hours depending on your pace. You’ll have a restful overnight stay at Shira 1, preparing for the next day’s trek to Shira 2 Camp.

This day sets the tone for your journey, allowing you to acclimatize while enjoying the stunning scenery along the way.

Trek from Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

On this day, you’ll wake up early for breakfast before starting the brief hike from Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp. This trek typically takes 5 to 6 hours and is considered relatively easy, allowing you to take in the breathtaking views of the African landscape.

Upon reaching the Shira 2 campsite, our dedicated porters will handle all arrangements, including pitching tents while our chef prepares your lunch. After enjoying your meal, you’ll have some time to unwind and rest until dinnertime.

In the evening, after dinner, our experienced guide will brief you about the trekking plans for the following day, ensuring you are well-prepared for the next leg of your adventure.

This day is perfect for acclimatization and enjoying the spectacular surroundings, making it a memorable part of your Kilimanjaro journey.

Trek from Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp

Start your day with an early wake-up call and a hearty breakfast to fuel your trek. Today’s route includes a climb to Lava Tower at 4,630m, where you’ll pass through a semi-desert, rocky landscape. After a 5-hour hike, you’ll enjoy lunch at Lava Tower, giving you a chance to recharge before ascending the rocky scree path. This demanding day might test your endurance as you acclimatize to the higher altitude.

Following lunch, you’ll descend 680m to Barranco Camp, where you’ll truly experience the benefits of acclimatization. This 2-hour descent offers stunning photo opportunities of the Western Breach, a dramatic cliff face that adds to the day’s breathtaking scenery. End the day with a memorable sunset and dinner at Barranco Camp, surrounded by the incredible landscapes that make your Kilimanjaro adventure truly unforgettable.

Trek from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Today’s journey may involve ascending the famous Barranco Wall, a steep but rewarding section that offers spectacular views as you climb. After conquering the Wall, you’ll descend into the scenic Karanga Valley, known for its lush vegetation and breathtaking landscapes. This descent allows for beautiful photo opportunities while you take in the stunning surroundings.

Upon reaching the Karanga campsite, our dedicated porters will set up your tents while our chef prepares a delicious lunch for you. After your meal, you’ll embark on an acclimatization hike towards Barafu Camp, ascending 200 meters before returning to camp. This acclimatization effort is essential to prepare your body for the higher altitudes ahead. In the evening, enjoy a hot meal prepared by our chef, providing you with the energy needed for the next day’s challenges. Following dinner, your experienced guide will brief you on the next day’s trek, discussing the route, challenges, and key details to ensure you’re well-prepared for the adventure that lies ahead.

This day is crucial for acclimatization and serves as a perfect balance of challenging ascents and well-deserved relaxation amidst nature’s beauty.

Trek from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Start your day with an early wake-up call and a hearty breakfast to fuel your trek toward Barafu campsite. The trail features varied terrain, including rocky sections and gradual slopes, providing breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro’s high-altitude landscapes. As you ascend, it’s crucial to focus on acclimatization to avoid altitude-related issues, which can impact your trekking experience significantly. Upon reaching Barafu, our porters will efficiently handle camp setup while our chef prepares a nutritious lunch to replenish your energy. After eating, take some time to rest and prepare mentally and physically for the challenges ahead.

In the evening, your guide will conduct a detailed briefing on the upcoming summit attempt, covering the route, challenges, safety measures, and essential preparations to ensure your success. This is a vital moment to clarify any questions you may have and to solidify your plans for the summit.

Try to rest well during the day, as the summit ascent will begin late in the evening, and a good night’s sleep will be crucial for your performance during this critical stage of your adventure.This day is pivotal for building the stamina and mental strength needed for the final climb, and every effort you make here will contribute to your success on the summit.

Summit Attempt - Uhuru Peak

4,640 m – 5, 895 m – 3,090 m

You’ll rise around 11:30 PM to begin your ascent after enjoying some tea and biscuits. The trek will lead you northwest as you climb through scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This 6-hour trek to Stella Point (5685m) is often considered the most mentally and physically challenging part of the climb, testing your endurance and determination. After a brief rest at Stella Point, you will be rewarded with a magnificent sunrise, weather permitting, as you take in the stunning views. From Stella Point, you will embark on a 2-hour ascent across a snow-covered path to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro.

Be mindful that your time at the summit may be limited due to cold temperatures and fatigue, so it’s important not to linger too long. The descent back to Barafu Camp takes about 3 hours, where you will have a short rest before continuing your journey to Mweka Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

This day is the culmination of your efforts and will offer unforgettable views and a sense of achievement as you stand atop Africa’s highest peak.

MWEKA CAMP | MWEKA PARK GATE | MOSHI

After enjoying breakfast at Mweka Camp, you will begin your descent to Mweka Gate, where your trek concludes. Following the completion of your hike, a transfer will take you back to your Hotel, where a hot lunch and a refreshing shower await you, providing the perfect opportunity to relax and celebrate your accomplishment.

As your trip comes to an end, please consider showing your appreciation to the trekking team with a tip. Special envelopes for this purpose are available at the hotel, ensuring that your gratitude reaches those who supported you on your journey.

If you wish to extend your adventure, you can meet with our safari coordinator at the hotel. After some rest, they will provide a briefing on various safari options available, allowing you to experience Tanzania’s stunning wildlife and natural beauty. Departure Day

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred back to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure. This is a great time to reflect on your incredible journey and the unforgettable experiences you’ve had in Tanzania.
