Any question?

Tour Overview

Tarangire National Park, located in Tanzania’s Manyara Region, covers approximately 2,850 square kilometers (1,100 square miles) and is named after the Tarangire River, a vital water source for wildlife, especially during the dry season. Established in 1970, it is the third-largest national park in Tanzania, featuring diverse landscapes such as granitic ridges, river valleys, and swamps.

Abundant Wildlife

Tarangire is renowned for having the largest elephant population in northern Tanzania, with herds sometimes exceeding 500 individuals. The park is also home to an array of wildlife, including zebras, giraffes, water buffalo, gerenuks, warthogs, lions, leopards, and hyenas. The best wildlife viewing occurs from June to October, when animals gather around the Tarangire River, the only permanent water source in the area.

Bird Watching:

With over 500 bird species recorded, Tarangire is a paradise for birdwatchers. Notable species include bateleur eagles, yellow-collared lovebirds, hornbills, Kori bustards, and lappet-faced vultures. Various habitats, such as acacia glades and areas near the river, provide excellent opportunities for bird sightings.

Scenic Beauty

The park's varied landscapes feature woodlands, swamps, and plains dotted with iconic baobab trees. The rolling savannah plains not only offer breathtaking views but also present numerous photography opportunities amid the park's natural beauty.

Accessibility

Tarangire National Park is approximately 198 kilometers (about 3 hours and 28 minutes) from Moshi, making it an excellent option for visitors looking to experience wildlife before or after hiking Mount Kilimanjaro or Mount Meru.

This itinerary is perfect for those seeking to unwind after a challenging climb or to gear up for an upcoming adventure. Whether you’re interested in the rich wildlife, stunning landscapes, or cultural experiences, a visit to Tarangire National Park is a memorable addition to your Tanzanian itinerary.
