This package provides an all-encompassing adventure, beginning with your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you’ll receive a warm welcome and be transferred to your Hotel. There, you will savor a delicious meal and participate in a pre-trekking briefing led by our experienced coordinators to prepare you for the journey ahead.

The trek commences with a journey from Moshi to Machame Camp, where you’ll traverse lush rainforests and ascend to higher elevations. Each day introduces you to diverse terrains, from the moorlands of Shira Camp to the rocky landscapes surrounding Lava Tower and Barranco Camp. Throughout the trek, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to acclimatize and take in the breathtaking scenery, supported by our team dedicated to ensuring your comfort and safety.

The pinnacle of the trek is the ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, where you’ll feel the exhilarating thrill of standing at the summit. Following your achievement, the descent leads you back through Kilimanjaro’s varied landscapes, culminating in a restful stay at Sal salinero Hotel.

Arrival

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a dedicated driver will be there to warmly welcome you, holding a sign with your name. From the airport, you’ll enjoy a smooth and comfortable transfer to your Hotel. Once you arrive at the hotel, a delicious meal will be served to you.

Later, you’ll meet with our experienced mountain coordinators and your guide for a pre-trekking briefing, providing you with an exciting overview of the adventures that await you on your upcoming expedition.

Take some time to relax at the Hotel, which features a swimming pool, a beautiful garden, a bar, and a restaurant, all designed to enhance your comfort and enjoyment during your stay.

Moshi to Machame Camp

After a hearty breakfast and a final briefing at your hotel, you’ll set off on a scenic 45-minute drive from Moshi to the Machame Park Gate. Upon arrival, the registration process will be completed, and you’ll receive a packed lunch for the journey ahead. The adventure begins as you trek into the lush rainforest, a region that can be muddy and slippery if it has rained recently, adding an extra layer of challenge to your ascent.

Covering approximately 11 km, the trek typically takes about six hours to reach Machame Camp. In the evening, porters will provide freshly boiled drinking and washing water while the cook prepares a warm dinner. As the night sets in, temperatures may drop to freezing, making it a chilly but fulfilling end to a rewarding day. You’ll then retire to your tent for a well-deserved rest, ready to continue the journey.

Machame Camp to Shira Camp

After a satisfying breakfast at Machame Camp, you’ll begin your trek toward Shira Camp. This hike spans approximately 5 km and typically takes around 4 to 5 hours. The journey starts with a steep ascent through the moorland zone, where you’ll be treated to spectacular views as you climb. As you near Shira Camp, the trail leads you along a ridge that offers breathtaking panoramas of the surrounding landscape.

Upon reaching Shira Camp, our dedicated porters will have set up the tents and prepared a hearty lunch for you. This will give you a chance to relax and acclimate to the altitude before dinner. In the evening, your guide will provide a briefing about the plans for the next day’s trek, ensuring you’re well-prepared for the adventures that lie ahead.

Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

After enjoying breakfast at Shira Camp, you will set out on a demanding trek to Lava Tower, which stands at an altitude of 4,630 meters. This journey covers about 11 km and typically takes between 7 to 8 hours, traversing rocky, semi-desert terrain. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to savor a lunch with panoramic views at Lava Tower before making your descent to Barranco Camp, located at 3,960 meters.

The descent to Barranco Camp lasts approximately 2 hours and offers stunning vistas of the Western Breach, a prominent feature of Kilimanjaro’s landscape. Once you arrive at Barranco Camp, the team will set up your tents and prepare a delicious dinner. Later in the evening, your guide will brief you on the plans for the following day’s trek, ensuring you are well-prepared for the adventures that await you.

This stage of the trek is crucial for acclimatization, as the varying altitudes and terrains contribute to your overall experience on Kilimanjaro.

Barranco Camp | Karanga Camp | Barafu Camp

After an early breakfast, your day will begin with the challenge of ascending the renowned Barranco Wall, a steep climb that rewards you with breathtaking views. Upon reaching the top, you’ll descend into the vibrant Karanga Valley, where you’ll enjoy lunch at Karanga Camp. Following a brief rest, you’ll continue your trek towards Barafu Camp, navigating through diverse terrains and stunning landscapes.

When you arrive at Barafu Camp, the porters will set up the tents while you take some time to rest and savor a delicious dinner prepared by our chef. In the evening, your guide will provide important information regarding your upcoming summit attempt. It’s essential to get plenty of rest, as the final ascent will commence later that night.

This portion of the trek is not only physically demanding but also offers spectacular views and a unique opportunity for acclimatization as you prepare for the challenge ahead.

BARAFU CAMP | SUMMIT | MWEKA CAMP

Altitude:

4,640 m – 5, 895 m – 3,090 m

Hiking & descending time:

15+ hours

You’ll wake up around 11:30 PM to begin your ascent, starting with some tea and biscuits for energy. The climb heads northwest through scree towards Stella Point, located on the crater rim. This 6-hour trek to Stella Point (5,685 meters) is often the most mentally and physically demanding part of the climb. After a brief rest, you may witness a spectacular sunrise, weather permitting.

From Stella Point, it’s a further 2-hour ascent over snow to Uhuru Peak. However, be mindful of the weather conditions and fatigue, as your time at the summit should be limited. After enjoying the views, you’ll begin your descent to Barafu Camp, which takes about 3 hours for a short rest. Finally, you’ll continue down to Mweka Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

This section of the trek is crucial for acclimatization and requires both mental and physical preparation. The breathtaking views and the accomplishment of reaching the summit will make all the effort worthwhile!

MWEKA CAMP | MWEKA PARK GATE | MOSHI

After enjoying breakfast at Mweka Camp, you will begin your descent to Mweka Gate, where you will drive back to the Hotel. At the hotel, you’ll be treated to a hot lunch and a refreshing shower to unwind after your trek. Tipping your support team is encouraged, and special envelopes are available at the hotel for this purpose.
