Embark on an unforgettable adventure climbing Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho Route. Your journey begins with a warm welcome at Kilimanjaro International Airport, followed by a transfer to your hotel, where you’ll receive a briefing from our experienced guides. Enjoy the hotel’s amenities, including a pool, garden, bar, and restaurant, for a comfortable start.

The trek starts with a drive to Lemosho Park Gate and a hike through lush forest trails to Mti Mkubwa Camp. Over the next few days, you’ll ascend through stunning landscapes, including Shira 1 and Shira 2 camps, Lava Tower, and the Barranco Wall. Each day presents new challenges and incredible views, culminating in the summit attempt to Uhuru Peak.

After reaching the summit, you’ll descend to Mweka Camp and return to your hotel for a hot meal and to reflect on your achievement. Optional extensions include safaris or Zanzibar visits, allowing further exploration of Tanzania’s beauty.

This journey combines adventure with the opportunity to experience Tanzania’s breathtaking landscapes and culture, ensuring an unforgettable trip.

Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

As you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our dedicated driver will be waiting for you, holding a sign with your name for a warm welcome. From there, you will enjoy a seamless and comfortable transfer to your Hotel.

Upon arrival, you’ll be served a delicious meal to replenish your energy. Later, our experienced mountain coordinators and your guide will provide a pre-trekking briefing, offering valuable insights into the wonders that await you on your expedition.

Take the time to relax in the inviting atmosphere of your Hotel, featuring a swimming pool, a beautiful garden, a bar, and a restaurant, ensuring a pleasant start to your adventure.

On your first day, after enjoying breakfast and attending a briefing with your guide at your Hotel, you’ll be transferred to Lemosho Park Gate (2,100m), a scenic 1.5-hour drive. At Londorossi Gate, you’ll complete the necessary registration before embarking on your trek.

The hike along picturesque forest trails to Mti Mkubwa Campsite (2,750m) typically takes around 3 hours. Upon your arrival, the porters will set up your tents, and our chef will prepare a hearty lunch for you to enjoy. After your meal, you’ll have some free time to relax and acclimatize before dinner.

In the evening, your guide will provide a detailed briefing about the next day’s trek, ensuring you are well-prepared for the adventure ahead.

Mti Mkubwa Camp | Shira Camp 2

Begin your day with an early breakfast before setting out on your trek from Mti Mkubwa Camp. The trail will lead you through diverse landscapes, including lush moorlands and stunning views of Kibo Volcano. You’ll hike for approximately 5 hours, reaching Shira Camp 1, where a hot lunch prepared by our chef awaits you.

After your meal, continue the trek to Shira Camp 2, which is about 2-3 hours away. This campsite is located at a higher altitude, providing expansive views of the surrounding landscapes. Upon arrival, our porters will set up your tents, and you’ll have time to relax and acclimatize before dinner.

In the evening, your guide will provide a briefing on the following day’s trek, ensuring you are well-prepared for the adventure ahead.

Shira Camp 2 | Barranco Camp

Start the day with an early wake-up call and a hearty breakfast to fuel your trek. Today’s route includes a climb to the Lava Tower at 4,630 meters, passing through a semi-desert, rocky landscape.

After approximately 5 hours of hiking, enjoy a well-deserved lunch before ascending the rocky scree path to the Lava Tower. This demanding day might test your endurance as you adjust to the higher altitude. After lunch, you’ll descend 680 meters to the Barranco Camp, where the true benefit of acclimatization becomes clear.

The 2-hour descent offers stunning photo opportunities of the Western Breach, a notable feature of Kilimanjaro’s landscape. End the day with a memorable sunset and a delicious dinner at Barranco Camp, where you can relax and reflect on the day’s adventures before preparing for the next leg of your journey.

Barranco Camp | Karanga Camp

Start your day early with a wake-up call and a nourishing breakfast to fuel your trek. Today’s adventure involves ascending the famous Barranco Wall, a steep but rewarding section that offers stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. Once you conquer the Wall, you’ll descend into the picturesque Karanga Valley, known for its lush vegetation and breathtaking scenery. Upon reaching the Karanga Camp, our dedicated porters will set up the tents while our chef prepares a delicious lunch for you.

After your meal, you’ll embark on an acclimatization hike towards Barafu Camp, ascending 200 meters before returning to Karanga Camp. This hike is crucial for your body’s adjustment to the altitude.

In the evening, enjoy a hot meal prepared by our chef, and after dinner, your experienced guide will brief you on the next day’s trek, discussing the route, challenges, and essential details to ensure you’re well-prepared for the upcoming adventure.

Karanga Camp | Barafu Camp

Start your day with an early wake-up call and a hearty breakfast to fuel your trek toward Barafu Camp. The trail features varied terrain, including rocky sections and gradual slopes, providing breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro’s high-altitude landscapes. As you ascend, it’s essential to focus on acclimatization to avoid altitude-related issues. Upon reaching Barafu Camp, our porters will efficiently handle the camp setup while the chef prepares a delicious lunch for you.

After enjoying your meal, take some time to rest and recharge until dinner. In the evening, your guide will brief you on the upcoming summit attempt, covering critical aspects such as the route, challenges, safety measures, and preparations to ensure you are ready for this significant part of your journey. Try to rest well tonight, as the summit ascent begins late in the evening, requiring your full energy and focus.

Summit Day | Barafu Camp | Uhuru Peak

4,640 m – 5, 895 m – 3,090 m

Hiking & descending time:

15+ hours

You’ll rise around 11:30 PM and start your ascent after a light meal of tea and biscuits. Heading northwest, you’ll climb through scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This challenging 6-hour trek to Stella Point (5,685m) is often the most mentally and physically demanding part of the climb.

After a brief rest at Stella Point, if weather conditions allow, you’ll be treated to a stunning sunrise. From Stella Point, it’s a 2-hour snow-covered ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Kilimanjaro.

Your time at the summit will depend on the weather, so it’s important not to linger too long due to the cold and fatigue. The descent to Barafu Camp takes approximately 3 hours, where you can take a short rest before continuing on to Mweka Camp for dinner and an overnight stay, reflecting on your incredible achievement.

Mweka Camp | Moshi

3,090 m – 1,650 m

10 km

Descending time:

4-5 hours

After breakfast at Mweka Camp, you’ll begin your descent to Mweka Gate, where your adventure concludes. A comfortable drive will take you back to Moshi, where a hot lunch and a refreshing shower await you, providing a well-deserved opportunity to relax.

At the end of your trip, tipping the team is encouraged and appreciated; special envelopes for this purpose will be available at the hotel. If you wish to extend your adventure with a safari, you can meet with our safari coordinator at the hotel. After some rest, the coordinator will provide a briefing on various safari options available.
